This study explores community resilience in the aftermath of natural disasters, focusing on the role of social support systems in facilitating recovery. Natural disasters often disrupt communities, leaving them vulnerable and in need of assistance. However, the capacity of a community to recover and rebuild depends largely on the strength and effectiveness of its social support structures, which include family networks, local organizations, and government agencies. Using in-depth interviews and participatory observation, this research investigates how community members engage with these support systems during the recovery process. The findings reveal that strong social networks, trust in local organizations, and effective government interventions play pivotal roles in fostering resilience. Additionally, communities that engage in collective action and mutual aid tend to recover more swiftly and effectively, despite resource limitations. This paper argues that enhancing social support systems should be a priority in disaster preparedness and response strategies. By strengthening community bonds and ensuring equitable access to support, resilience can be built before, during, and after a disaster. The study contributes to the understanding of how social cohesion and solidarity can act as critical factors in disaster recovery, offering insights for policymakers, NGOs, and local leaders in improving disaster response and resilience strategies.
